Y7 - PIV Edition High-Speed Camera
In addition to a pulsed laser to illuminate a slice or a volume of a flow, the backbone of typical PIV systems comprises of a computer system operating single or multiple cameras and a timing interface to provide synchronization the illumination pulses and the camera(s).
The Y7 – PIV Edition is the latest advance in digital camera technology. This camera system boasts an imaging sensor capable of delivering 5,000 fps with 1080HD resolution, in single exposure mode and 2,500 image pairs in double exposure mode. This sensor technology also delivers the ultimate performance in light sensitivity and 10 bit images with high signal-noise-ratio (58 dB). A significant feature of this camera its that it is capable of delivering the required synchronization signals to any laser type (single or dual head, flash lamp or diode pumped) without the requirement of an additional timing interface.
Included in the camera package is the PIV software that comprises two modules: The proVISION-XS™ module is an interface for image acquisition and processing. The proVISION-XS Explorer™ is a data viewer and archival module with data export and import capabilities between the other programs. Both programs are totally integrated with the Tecplot data manipulation and presentation package.

The proVISION-XS package includes the newest PIV image acquisition and processing software for the Microsoft windows environment. In addition to the new Y7-PIV Edition the package also supports all the other cameras in the IDT portfolio with the double–exposure feature.

Portability and Ease of Use
The Y7 high frame rate camera with the integrated laser controller is the salient feature of very compact system. From set-up to operation it takes only minutes. Operation is fully controlled by software with easy to recognize iconized tasks and integrated help.
Reliability
The system provides incorporates the most accurate and reliable correlation algorithm, providing 2-D and 3-D vector fields with the highest data density and free from spurious data.
Compatibility
While the Y7-PIV camera is compatible with any laser source, other illumination sources such as LED’s can equally be synchronized by the camera without the need for special signal conditioners or adapters. The software remains fully compatible with the "double exposure" enabled cameras.
